陈荫罴，生于广东中山县，十二岁小学毕业后随父赴美。一九三四年进入美国洛杉矶奥蒂斯艺术学院就读，一九四O年取得美术硕士学位；次年于洛杉矶艺术俱乐部举行首次各展而后获洛杉矶郡立美术馆馆长麦坚尼的推荐于一九四二年在旧金山策动宫举行个展。一九四七年至四九年返回中国，于广州市文献馆及上海举行个展。一九五O年返美研究抽象画。一九六九至七三年间、应南加州帕撒狄纳美术馆之邀举行个展，展出五十件抽象作品。陈荫罴作品被圣地牙哥博物馆及美国数个市立美术馆永久典藏。

Born in Zhongshan, Guangdong Province, Chen Yinpi completed middle school and left China for the United States with his father at age twelve. In 1934, he entered the United States such as The San Diego Museum of Art. the Otis Institute of Arts in Los Angeles receiving his M.EA. in 1940. His first solo exhibition was held in at The California Art Club in Los Angeles. At the 1941 recommendation of Roland Mckinney, Curator at the Los Angeles County Museum, Chen was invited to hold his second solo show at the Palace of the Legion of Honour in San Francisco (1942). Chen lived in China, exhibiting at the Public Archives Museum in Guangzhou along with numerous museums in Shanghai from 1947-1949. In 1950, he returned to the United States and began to study abstract painting. The Pasadena Fine Arts Museum in Southern California exhibited more than fifty of Chen Yinpi''s works from 1969-1973. His painting has been acquired by significant public institutions and museums
