童年时看过一部日本的动画片《机器猫》,机器猫的万能口袋总是能变出很多新奇的玩意儿,恐怕大家和我一样,最想拥有的是一台可以穿梭于过去与未来之间的时空穿梭机。有了它,我们就可以任意做时空旅行了。这次展览,也像是这样的时空旅行,让我们在遨游中发现明天。
我们这次展出的有老艺术家在20世纪70年代想象未来的作品,青年建筑师关于建构未来的想象,80后及前90新艺术家呈现的鲜活未来。本次展览向人们展示了一批中国最年轻的艺术家,我相信他们就是中国艺术的未来。
“相信未来”展览在宋庄壹号美术馆开幕之际,相信未来虚拟美术馆(blog.sina.com.cn/xiangxinweilai2007)也同时在新浪展示最年轻一代的博客。希望我们的展览,在现实与虚拟中同时存在,带给观众不一样的视觉体验,达到与观众的互动,让观众来选择作品,选择未来,每个观众都可以成为策展人。
从革命时代对未来的渴望到消费时代对未来的定义,我们把握到的未来既是将来时的,也是过去时的,又是进行时的。对未来的想象既可以是激情澎湃的,又可以是充满恐惧的,也可以是神闲气定的。我不禁想到“今天”诗人食指在1968年写的诗句:“当蜘蛛网无情地查封了我的炉台/当灰烬的余烟叹息着贫困的悲哀/我依然固执地铺平失望的灰烬/用美丽的雪花写下:相信未来。”而在这全球化的时代,我们敲击电脑键盘写下:相信未来。

Stars of Tomorrow
I have seen a Japanese cartoon < Doraemon> during my childhood. Doraemon always conjures so many fantastic things from his omnipotent pocket. I suspect that everyone shares the same feeling as me, the desire to have a time machine which could make us travel through the past and the future. If we had such a device, it would be easy for us to travel through any space. This exhibition is similar to the journey through space. It enables us to discover tomorrow during our journey.
In this exhibition, we have older generation artists’ works that imagine the future from the point of view of the 1970s, young architects’ imaginations about the construction of the future, and also new artists of the late 80s and early 90s, presenting their version of the dynamic future. This exhibition presents a group of the youngest Chinese artists, and I believe they are the future of Chinese art.
Concurrent with the opening of the exhibition Trust the Future at the TS1 Art Museum, Trust the Future Virtual Art Museum will display blogs of the younger generation at blog.sina.com.cn/xiangxinweilai2007. I would like our exhibition to exist both in reality and virtual space. It could bring the audience different visual experiences and interactions. Let the audience choose the work, choose the future. Every audience member could be a curator.
From the desire of the future in revolutionary times to the definition of the future in the era of consumption, the future in our hands can be future tense, past tense, and even present tense. The imagination of the future could be emotional, horrible or calm. I cannot help thinking about the poem of the ‘today’ poet Shizhi, which was written in 1968:
‘When the cobweb seals up my range mercilessly/ when the smoke of ash sighs the sorrow of poverty/ I still pave the ash of disappointment obstinately/ and write down the words with beautiful snowflakes: trust the future.’
In the time of globalization, we hit our keyboards type into computers: trust the future.
