在中国当代女性艺术家中，李虹当属一位最执著，最自觉地坚守女性主义立场的艺术家。她作为一个有觉悟的知识分子女性，十分清楚自己的艺术权力和社会责任：从男权话语的桎梏中走出来，自觉书写女性自己的历史。于是，她没有把自己限定在某一种艺术方式之中，她不仅画画，做装置，还写作和出版小说。她以感性的色彩和犀利的笔锋对承传了上千年的父权制文化做了力所能及的清理和批判。

李虹的反叛的确是令人惊讶的、也是彻底的。她期待着有一天能冲破那道看不见的“潜网”。性别是一个无处不在的事实，无论是谁，每一个来到这个世界的公民首先被关注、被确认的就是他的性别身份。“是个男孩儿”，“是个女孩儿”——这个在你呱呱坠地时简单的生理认定，就已强制性地把你嵌入社会权力结构中的一个永难变动的恒定位置。几乎在以后的所有活动中，这个与生俱来的身份都在圈定着你的范围，影响着你选择。或许正因为如此，西蒙·波伏娃才说，“男人永远不会以性别为起点去表现自身，他不用声明他是一个男人”。“但是，如果我想给自己下个定义，就必须首先确认：‘我是一个女人’。这是进一步讨论所有的问题的基点”。也正因为如此，李虹才想从这个“强制性的社会权力结构”中挣脱出来。{著名评论家：贾方舟}

李虹以浪漫时代为主题的个展将于2007年的3月8日在798艺术文化区3818库展出，这是她2006年度油画作品，并届时完成她2007年度的装置作品《女》的封书行为。

Li Hong, as a female artist in the contemporary era, is the one who holds her ground of feminism self-consciously and inflexibly. By way of an intellectual female with consciousness, she knows her art power and the social responsibility without doubt: releasing from the shackle of masculinity and making out women’s history on their own initiative. Thereupon, Li Hong does not limit herself in one art mode. Her art works include not only paintings, installations but also a lot of composition and fictions. She animadverts the patriarchy which has been succeeded in thousands of years and straightens them out with her sensibility and incisive style of writing.

The “Romantic Age” solo exhibition shows in Mar. 8 2007 at 3818 cool gallery in 798 art district. This exhibition contains her works in 2006 and she may fulfill her installation works called “women” on the occasion.
